The Rituals That Anchor Me

There’s a quiet kind of magic in the rituals we return to. Not the ones you do on a week long retreat or the Instagrammable ones doing forest bathing on a sunny day, but the gritty, grounding, deeply personal practices that bring us back to ourselves — even when life feels full, fast, or emotionally noisy.

For me, these rituals are more than just habits. They’re energetic anchors. Little lifelines that tether me to clarity, presence, and resilience.

Here are a few of the ones I come back to, again and again:

1. Switching

This simple Touch for Health technique is the first thing I reach for when my mind feels foggy, or my body and brain just aren’t syncing up.

It only takes a minute — asimply rubbing specific acupressure points — but the shift is immediate. I feel clearer, more focused, and reconnected with my physical self. It’s perfect for those “I can’t think straight” moments, especially when I’ve been multitasking or emotionally overloaded.

2. Intuitive Journaling

There’s something about giving yourself permission to write with zero agenda that feels profoundly liberating. This isn’t about pretty pages or structured prompts — it’s a brain spill, a truth-extraction, a moment of exhale on paper.

Some days, I land on clarity within a few lines. Other times, it takes three pages. Either way, I always find something waiting for me at the other end. A reminder. A shift. A breadcrumb back to centre.

3. Breath and Vagus Nerve Activation

When I feel tight-chested or overstimulated, this is my nervous system’s best friend. A few slow breaths with a hand resting gently at the base of my skull, and a low humming sound as I exhale.

This hum isn’t just calming — it’s biologically supportive. It activates the vagus nerve, signalling safety to the body. It’s one of those tiny tools that makes a big impact.

4. Crystals + Bach Remedies

I don’t use these every day, but when I do, it’s with clear intention. I’ll intuitively choose a crystal to carry in my pocket or tuck under my pillow. Or I’ll reach for Rescue Remedy if I’ve had a jarring day and need emotional softening.

They’re gentle tools, but they work on a subtle, stabilising level that I really value — especially when I feel energetically porous.

5. The Body Scan

One of the foundational tools in my 7-Day Energy Reset, this isn’t just a mindfulness exercise — it’s a moment of radical honesty with myself.

Where am I holding tension? Where am I disconnected? What’s my body trying to say before I override it?

A body scan doesn’t require silence or candles or a 30-minute window. It can happen in the car, in bed, or while the kettle’s boiling. It’s a pause. A reconnection.

These rituals are the real work

They don’t always look glamorous, and no one claps for you when you do them. But they change the way I meet the day — and they change the way I meet myself.

If you’re craving some of this support, my 7-Day Energy Reset weaves these tools together into a simple, powerful rhythm. It’s self-led, gentle, and ready whenever you are.

What rituals bring you back to yourself?
